The crash, which killed Michael Vincente Chavez, 28, of Greenwich, took place around 4:10 a.m. on northbound I-95, north of Exit 6 in Stamford, said Connecticut State Trooper Kelly Grant.

According to police, the crash happened when the 2015 Honda Accord veered off the roadway into the grass shoulder area and struck a concrete wall of the Wilson Street Bridge, and rolled over, landing on the roof.

When troopers arrived on the scene they found the driver and one passenger, both of Stamford, alert, but with serious injuries.

Chavez, who was a backseat passenger was pronounced dead on the scene by Stamford paramedics, she said.

All three were extricated from the vehicle by Stamford Fire officials and transported to Stamford Hospital.

The crash is currently under investigation.
